Responsible consumption & the fair market

The market economy doesn’t work properly; the prices of the products we buy aren’t always as fair as they should be and it causes poverty in less economically developed countries.

We live in the mass culture, and we always want more and more things to be completely happy. But, if we stop and think about it, do we really need all these things to be happy? To ask this question is the first step to becoming a responsible consumer, and then we can buy only what we need, not what advertising tell us to. What can we do to become a responsible consumer? Make groups of four and give ideas!!

Something we can do to help producers in the poorest countries all over the world, is fair trade. Fair trade is a way to change the world by making simple shopping decisions. Here you have more information:

Now, we have to think about what we can do in the future to encourage fair trade in our school, family or city. Make groups of four and give ideas!! Here you have one example:

To finish the project, you have to imagine that we’ll open a fair trade shop in Villamayor and we want to make an advertisement to show everyone in Villamayor how fair trade works. So, you have to make a poster (glogster.com) to get consumers to our new shop.
